retirees are often surprised by the transition from active employment to the
new phase of life known as retirement. In this forum, Dave Nimmer, former WCCO
TV reporter, will offer a collection of short stories about “trying to live a
rich and meaningful life when the old rules no longer apply.” Nimmer admits that the new journey requires
one to be humble and spiritual. And he emphasizes that he hasn’t got the
perfect formula – only a few lessons learned along the way.

survey among octogenarians asked: “If you could change anything about your
life, what would it be?” While many
people were happy with their lives, there were three common answers to the
question: (1) “I would reflect
more;” (2) “I would risk more;” (3) “I
would do something that would have lasting value.” Wise stewards find creative ways to give a
portion of their income and assets to ministries they value. Pastor Andersen will discuss a variety of
ways to express our values through charitable giving.

session will include a video, “Senior Safety” about safety/scams often
targeting retired folks as well as discussion about ways to prevent yourself
from being victimized by phone solicitors, repair persons, and other “smooth
talkers.” Sergeant McCreary will offer
many common sense techniques with common sense solutions.
