Immanuel Lutheran Church

Member Activities

There are so many ways to be involved in the social and spiritual life of Immanuel!

At Immanuel, we support one another through many kinds of fellowship opportunities.  Some center around prayer and study, some around good food and activity, and some around PLAY!  Some have remained a vital part of church life over many years; some have grown and changed over time to meet the changing interests of our members.

Avenues has been a great way for Doug and me to connect with other young adults at Immanuel.  My favorite thing about being in a church community is being able to discuss ideas, and get different perspectives on things, as well as make friends with others who share a common but transforming faith. Avenues has been a great way to do that, especially since we get together to do this at great restaurants in the Twin Cities. It's been my favorite part of Immanuel.”                                                                     -- Sarah Fortin

Women’s groups, such as Immanuel Lutheran Church Women of the ELCA, bible study circles, quilters, and other ad hoc activities for women enrich and affirm our gifts and callings to ministry, relationships, and action.

For men, there is a monthly breakfast with bible study and fellowship, and the annual opportunity to prepare and serve Lutefisk to the hundreds of folks who wouldn’t miss this landmark Immanuel event.

For young adults, Immanuel offers Avenues, including monthly “brunch” gatherings to discuss topics of current interest, as well as special outings and service activities.

For all, there is a wide array of social and

      spiritually invigorating activities and events

throughout the year.  Bible study, book club, 49ers

and other senior gatherings, the motorcycle gang, community service opportunities,  arts and music activities, as well as special events like our Open House on September 17, are just a few examples of the many ways members enjoy being active participants in Immanuel’s extended family.

Leadership for most activities is provided by the participants, with support from staff and/or sponsorship from one of Immanuel’s committees.  Anyone, or a small group of members, can launch a new interest group at Immanuel if they wish by working with the Membership & Evangelism committee.

Member Activities – A Vision for the Future of Immanuel…

Wouldn’t it be great if all members could find at least one activity at Immanuel that appeals to their social and spiritual needs?  We’re working on it!
