Choirs

Immanuel Makes Music!

There are opportunities for ALL to make a joyful noise!

All choirs and ensembles are directed by Immanuel’s Director of Worship and Music.

For the Young:

Seraphim Ringers: The handbell choir for grades three through eight rings every six weeks in church. In our time together, we focus on music literacy, handbell techniques, music games, and fellowship. Join us! Rehearsal: Wednesdays, 4:30-5:15 p.m.

Kinderchor: This choir is for children in K, 1st and 2nd grades. Rehearsal:  During the Sunday School hour (9:25-9:45 a.m.).  The second graders are also included in the Choristers Choir on Wednesday nights.

Choristers: This choir is for children from 2nd through 6th grades. Games, singing, principles of vocal technique, and exploring instruments are all part of our time together. We focus on learning the Lutheran liturgy and hymnody. Principles of the Kodaly and Orff music education methods are used to help us learn the hymns and anthems, as well as teaching us music literacy. Now that we have found our beautiful singing voices, we work on part-singing through rounds and anthems, while continuing the habit of good vocal techniques. The Choristers lead worship every four to six weeks, generally at the 10:30 a.m. service. Rehearsal: Wednesdays, 5:15-6 p.m.

Hosanna Singers (Preschool Choir): This choir of our little ones meets during the Sunday School hour (9:15-10:15a.m.). They sing in worship four times a year.

For the Young at Heart:

Jubilate Ringers: This bell choir for high schoolers and adults prepares handbell anthems as well as occasional accompaniments for hymns and psalms. The Jubilate Ringers play in worship once a month. Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 6:45-7:45 p.m.

Cantorei: The adult choir (high schoolers, too!) leads worship on most Sundays from September to May as well as festival services. The choir learns a wide variety of choral repertoire of many different genres and hymns and liturgy as needed to lead worship. Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 7:45-9 p.m.

Worship Ensemble: This is for youth and adults who play any instrument to have the chance to lead worship three to four times a year. We lead the congregation in hymn-singing and liturgy with a funky beat! Call to get your name on the list.

Brass: (grade 9 and up) All you brass players, dust off your horns! The Immanuel Brass usually plays four times a year and is very low-key. Come blast away! Call to get your name on the list.

Flute Choir: (grade 9 and up) Our Flute Choir meets occasionally to provide music 3 or 4 times per year. Watch the bulletin for announcements!

For All Ages:

Instrumentalists: Provide musical offerings during worship either solo or in small groups.
